Remove content you don't need using the cut command only and move the rest to the beginning of the timeline and save the result under a new name. The original files and placements will still be in the project folder to recall when you need under the original project name. Re-open the original and repeat for your second scene with yet another new name. You should then have all three in the same project folder without needing additional hard drive space.

The main thing to remember is never import the original files into a project but copies. That way if anything goes wrong you have something to fall back on.

@CubeAce,

Using original files are not at risk from MEP itself, which is non-destructive. Of course, there are all sorts of other risks - against which all prudent users insure with a robust backup regime.

I have 3 scenes on my time line, but now, I want to remove 2 of those scenes to use in a different movie at a later date. How can I remove those 2 scenes and save their exact contents without upsetting everything?

Hi Patrick,

Another simple method is to:

1. Open a new movie with the + icon

2. Cut the two scenes from your timeline (Ctrl+X)

3. Paste them to the new movie (Ctrl+V)

4. File > Manage Movies > Export, saving the MVD file with an appropriate name and location

5, Delete the new movie from your current project

5. When you want to use those scenes again in a new project, use File > Manage Movies > Import.
