@ccolreavy

Hi

To save a LUT click the indicated control and selection as shown in the image below.

The LUT will appear in Templates, Movie Looks, Effect look up table with no image.

To add an image place a jpg image 64x36 pixels in size showing the effect in the following folder

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Video Pro X\VideoEffects\LUTPresets\LUTEffect\Icons

Great tip/help there @johnebaker mate. If you guys are interested, there is a fantastic deal on a Movie LUT Package, containing over 2000 LUT's! It only cost me £10, and I've since looked through some for a 15 minute 4K upscale test I made other day. There is some fantastic quality one's, and they look amazing in 4K, although I could only output at 8-bit colour for now, due to old PC.

Yep, great deal on the LUT collections. Nice that you can copy the LUT directories into:

  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Video Pro X\VideoEffects\LUTPresets\

...and then access them through the "Templates" tab, and teh "Movie Looks" section...and see the directories from the Vision bundle (e.g. Vision - Action FX). However, the joy stops there as there are no thumbnails to 'show' the effect, and the file name contains no description, just the VSN_Movie(1), etc... so the only way to determine what will happen is to step through the options and see what happens in the Source window... If you have the time, then you could create thumbnails (2000...!!) to match the LUTs in the bundle, and you could rename all the LUTS with a more descriptive name, but by then you may regret all the editing time that you have lost.

In any case, I did purchase the bundle and expect I will get some use out of them...but as with many things Magix, they don't seem to want to make it easy by partnering with a company to produce a product that is self installing with all the details (thumbnails, descriptions) in place.

And I wouldn't be surprised if all the LUTs would need to be copied back when the next 'full version' upgrade comes along X12/13, etc...

@mrveronn

Yes, it is a "pain" that those LUTs do not include any thumbnails but that is not Magix fault! Those LUTs were produced by a company which has nothing to do with Magix directly; if you check that supplier's website they don't even list any of the Magix range as "compatible", apart from Vegas (which they call "Sony Vegas"!!!)

And yes, I bought them too! (I see they've already gone back up in price.)
