Saving Takes for a MP4 Video

Hello, Im a basketball video scout guy . My job is to look at a video of a game and edit all the plays/baskets/defense etc...

What I was doing so far was using a VERY old magix movie edit pro 14 (not 2014, but 14). Now, I had to

1. Convert MP4 To mpg in order to use the basketball game video with that software.

2. While using the Program I was watching the video of the basketball game, press "I" Then stop it, Then press "O" then I would press SHIFT+T, Which was SAVING A TAKE of the specific play, then I would simply carry on with the video and do more of the "I", "O", Shift+T untill the end of the game. then i would combine takes, putting headlines, whatever and Export.

NOW I HAVE THIS 2018 Movie edit Premium and I was told I wont be needing to convert anymore.

I was told i can take a MP4 And do thos stuff but it doesnt work, there is no 'TAKES' Folder Like i used to have in the old version

Anyone knows???

Hi,

Instead of setting a range, you have to split the clip and then save it as a take.

So, where you would do "I", do "T" and where you would do "O" do "T" then select this piece, Shift+K and it will be saved as a Take with the filename plus XXXX appended, starting with 0001. If there is no Takes folder, MEP will create one under:

C:\Users\Admin\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\Takes

or wherever you have put the Project folder in the Program settings.

I suggest that you then navigate to this folder in the Media Pool and rename the takes as you do them.

However, I can't see any reason to make takes. Why don't you just put the cuts using "T" and leave them like that. As you go along, you can put a project marker to remind yourself as to the play, if you want. Ctrl+Enter brings up the marker box.

If you update to 2019, which you can do if you bought MEP within the last year, then you can also quickly colour code the clips by right-clicking, Object Color, and select a colour for each type of play.

Finally, since your long video is now split into clips, you can quickly add a title to each. Select a clip, press on the Title button and the title will be placed starting at the beginning of the selected clip.
