@Steve-Jans

Hi and welcome to the forum

From the screen image posted it looks like you are using the Basic version of Movie Edit pro - screen capture is only available in the Plus and Premium versions - see the version comparison here.

Greetings Steve,

Can I suggest as a quick money saving thought? Try using Windows 10's own video capture utility. I came across it a few weeks ago and I find it better than Magix and OBS for most screen recording.

Do a windows search for Game Mode Settings and open. Open Xbox game bar and check mark ON. Open Captires and set video quality and frame rate - unfortunately these setting don't give much range for adjustment but, depending on what you want, are adequate.

Open the Xbox game bar and you're ready to record. I found It a little fiddly to get started but after a few tries I managed to get the hang of it.

The main thing to remember is that Game Mode DOES NOT record from Explorer or any other Windows window(?). It will only record from a 3rd party app such as VLC or Firefox, that sort of video carrier. The 3rd party app HAS to be the last window the cursor clicks on before recording otherwise all you get is the desktop. I stronly recommend using the key press shortcuts.

It does record with variable frame rate and audio but MEP 2021 seems to cope with it.

Just thought I'd mention it as it certainly took me by surprise when I came across it; I ignored it for a long time because of the word Xbox.
