peterhgloudeman wrote on 1/15/2013, 11:20 PM

I tried screen capture for the first time and it won't record audio, only video.

Problem : No audio is being recorded. In the screen capture menu, it shows "Warning: The audio level is too low (maximum level > -20 dB)" Next to level control it is showing -60dB

Occurance: Everytime I try to video capture

Hardware: Intel core i7 3770k, Nvidia 660 video card, 16 gb ram, gigabyte z77x motherboard, I don't have an audio card

OS: windows 7 premium

Software: Movie edit pro 2013 plus

Any help is appreciated,

thanks, -Peter

Hi

The audio 'card' is on the motherboard.

See this post aboutenabling the Stereo mixer

http://www.magix.info/uk/photostory-on-dvd-no-sound-on-preview.knowledge.904412.html

Once you have done this then select it as the audio recording device.

@johnebaker

Tried what you set, nothing was different or changed the program to recognize audio. Under sound devices I have Nvidia and Speakers. I always use Nvidia, because if i select Speakers, no audio come out of my tv. My computer is connected to a tv with an HDMI cable. Not sure what else I can do. Even when i selected Speakers in movie edit pro, it still showed up as being -60dB

Hi

. . . Under sound devices I have Nvidia and Speakers. I always use Nvidia, because if i select Speakers, no audio come out of my tv. My computer is connected to a tv with an HDMI cable. . . .

This is beginning to look like the onboard audio (VIA not Realtek) is disabled or there are no drivers present.  In Control Panel open Device Manager and see if the VIA audio is listed under Sound, video and game controllers.

If it is not there then it is either disable in the BIOS or has been disable by the NVidia sound setup.

You would not get any sound on your TV selecting Speakers - this option is for speakers plugged directly into the computer, not playing through a TV.

. . . . Even when i selected Speakers in movie edit pro . . . .

What options are on the Recording tab or which recording devices are available in the Sounds dialog?

@johnebaker

Under contol panel in device manager, VIA High definition audio and Nvidia high definition audio are listed.

In movie edit pro, when I hit the record button and then select screen capture, under "1. Audio Drivers" the following selections are available

" VIA HD Audio line in (wdm)"

"VIA HD Audio microphone (wdm)"

"VIA hd audio stereo mixer (wdm)"

"Stereo mix (Via high definition*" and lastly

"no recording"

In the control panel of my computer, under sounds, and then recording, the following are available:

Microphone (not plugged in)

Line in (not plugged in)

Stereo mix (Via high definition audio)

Hi

Thanks for the detailed response, that helps a great deal.

The "Stereo mix (Via high definition*" option should work as it is both in Windows and MEP - yu may need to adjust the volume level on the stereo mixer.

Cheers
