I am trying to screen record (with MEP) but having no luck with the sound. There is an error that says could not connect to the device.
My speakers are plugged into the Soundblaster sound card which is not shown in the audio device selection drop down menu.
All devices (enabled & disabled) are shown in this module
I am not too sure what is happening as I used to screen record with sound before and I can no longer do it.

In addition to @CubeAce comment also check that in Windows setting, Privacy and Security, Microphone the Let desktop apps access your microphone is turned on, contrary to the name this setting affects more inputs when recording.

Whether you are connected to your sound card or not. It is a separate setting to the one Windows is using.
Might be something is this topic too:

These are my settings for using a Realtek sound card, yours should be the similar.
The issue you are having is related to the program connecting to the Windows Mixer - see this comment and the following in that topic.

Gents, the Playback setting does not have any effect on my ability to record audio. I've tried all three options here (Speakers, HDMI and SPDIF) and none stop me recording audio.
Right click the Speaker icon in the system tray, Sounds>Recording Tab>Right click Stereo Mix>Properties > Listen Tab >set "Playback through this device" to Speakers.
Use the Levels tab to adjust the audio level.
You can get access to the Recording panel by clicking on the Level Control... button on the MEP Screen Capture screen.

I think the problem is you are trying to use the SoundBlaster and inboard Realtec audio chip in the same program. As far as I'm aware that can't be done as sound drivers have to be released from one chip in use before another can be instigated within any one program. That means that the SoundBlaster should be set up within the Windows audio chain to be used throughout as the default audio device.
Creative Labs actually recommend disabling any inboard sound chips to avoid such conflicts.
That may be drastic but the audio chain can be set from Within Windows itself from
Windows / Settings / System / Sound / Sound Control Panel. From there you should be able to set the SoundBlaster as the default option for all inputs and outputs including the mic and stereo mix options. .

How? The images above suggest the Realtek has not been disabled - this must be done in the BIOS.

Hi.
You may have misunderstood.
Everything in the audio chain must go through the Soundblaster card if you wish to use it to monitor the output from whatever program you are using.
You still seem to have the RealTeK Stereo Mix selected for recording. That will not work. As the program loads with the SoundBlaster loaded for playback, the RealTeK audio chip will be cut off from being used by the program.
All RealTek inputs and outputs must be disabled. All the Sounblasters inputs and outputs must be set as the default devices if you want to go the Windows route.
Easier as John (and Creative Labs) suggests to disable the RealTek from the bios.

Although all realtech inputs and outputs are disabled. They still show in MEP

Zaza don't even bother with that feature in MEP, OBS Studio does a much better job and the video size is way smaller than the one with MEP.

While I agree OBS Studio can be much better at capturing a screen recording it depends on what you are capturing. If it is from a Camcorder then OBS studio on its own is pretty useless and if you want to then edit the output videos from OBS Studio you have to be vary careful on what codecs you use and general setup of the files or the results can be un-editable.

Sorry I've been away and busy.
There is no such thing as a physical 'Stereo Mix' and it is a part of the controlling software for the sound chip.
In Windows for the inboard sound chip which is normally a RealTeK or similar chip then you get to use the normal Window sound Mixer.
Different chips or sound cards may display Stereo Mix as 'What U Hear' or 'What You Hear' instead but is the same as the Stereo Mix you see in the RealTek options.
If you want similar functions from a Creative Labs Sound card I would assume you would need to have their sound card controlling software on your computer as well if there is one for your sound card. It would also have to be Windows 10 and Direct X compatible.
I certainly had to use the software mixers that came with my Yamaha and TerraTec sound cards in the past.
You still have to allow Windows to have access to the mic input as John EB mentioned earlier as that is the primary input channel used to pick up internal sounds from the computer but bypassing the mic amp in the chip. If a second channel is needed then the line input channel is pressed into service etc. The amount of 'channels' that can be 'mixed' is down to how many individual inputs / outputs a particular sound card has.

Did you as John suggested, check that a Windows update has not turned off the Windows settings, Privacy, Camera and Microphone settings 'Allow desktop apps to access the Camera/Microphone'.
Also ensure the volume for that input is turned up.
It is possible that the program never did use the Audigy card for recording audio but was using the RealTek chip but how that would work and play back through the Audigy loudspeaker output I have no idea.
