Select entire track, copy and paste to a different track, keep timing?

I am trying to select the entire track, which has over a dozen or so audio clips in specific time markers.

How come I cannot select the whole track, copy, and paste it on a new track? and have it keep the same locations of the clips? I must be missing something here?

Is there some easy way to do this simple function?

Everytime I try this, it either pastes the objects at the very start of the new track, thereby displacing all of the timing of everything, or it just won't allow to paste at all...

Doubel clicking in the far right by the solo button, one would think would highlight the entire track with all objects, pressing cntl C, one would think copies those objects at their locations, moving to a new track, and pressing cntl V, one would think would easily paste those objects into that track at the same locations?

Duplicating a track serves no practical purpose to the editing process and may harm playback performance as the same locations on the hard drive need to accessed multiple times at the same time.

If you wish to place a track onto a higher track number, use the single track mouse mode and hold down the 'Shift' key while dragging the track down to it's new position to prevent it moving across the time line. Only grab the first object in the time line of the track you wish to move.

If you really need to duplicate the track. Solo it. Export it as a file, and re-import the exported video track. That at least avoids the scenario I outline above.

If you just want to duplicate one or more objects and put them on another track, first make sure that you have a track to put them on, then select all objects on the track that you want to duplicate, hold down Ctrl and drag straight down (or up) to the other track. If you move left or right a bit, just slide the objects to snap to the original before releasing the mouse button.

Alternative 1: Select and copy the objects from the track (Ctrl+C). Put the playback marker at the beginning of the first clip to be copied. Turn on the destination track by clicking in the Header so that it turns on (blue). Ctrl+V. The objects will be pasted at the playback marker.

Alternative 2: Duplicate (D) Select the objects from the track to be duplicated. Press D. The copy will still be on the same track but highlighted. Just drag down to another track and align with the original - they do snap together. Do not click on anything before doing this or the copy will lose focus.

Solo is for playback - only that track will be played back. You can Solo more than one track. It is the opposite of Mute. Nothing to do with copying objects.
