SF13: odd behaviour after installation

Build 135 - 64-bit - Windows 10 64-bit

Hi all, I installed SF13 on a new Windows 10 PC and SF is behaving really strangely. Sometimes the Save buttons become ghosted so you can't save your work; the play head disappears; certain keyboard inputs are ignored (such as CTRL-ENTER to maximise the width of the waveform window on-screen), etc. Just a really broken program.

The odd thing is: this happened to me last year on a Windows 7 PC and I cannot remember how I resolved it. I thought it might have been with a later build, but 135 is the latest.

So I'm seeing this behaviour on two totally different PCs, in two different locations, on two different OSs. Has anyone else seen this and can you tell me how to resolve it?

Many thanks,

Paul

Sorry Paul, I have not experienced or read of this behavior.

I world look at what the two PCs that exhibit the behavior have in common. OS, Graphics cards, anti-virus, SF customizations, ect., ect. Try re-setting to the initial defaults and clear the cache (File menu).

Hi Rick. Neither PC has any of those things in common: OS, video card, anti-virus, etc. Even though it's a fresh install of SF, I was going to try resetting it, but I just opened it now and none of the issues are there anymore. It seems to have corrected itself. Maybe this is why I couldn't remember how I resolved it on the Windows 7 machine last year. This is odd because I even rebooted the Windows 10 machine after reinstalling earlier in the week and it was still problematic.

Anyway, another issue was that it was forgetting everything I had set up. So each time I'd launch it, I would have to set up the toolbars the way I like them; I would have to switch off the data overview lane, etc. Also, every time I launched it, it was taking an age to scan the VST folders, as though doing so for the first time. Now, it seems to be alright. I have no idea what was wrong, but I'll give it a more thorough testing on Monday and report back.

Many thanks for your advice.

OK, I'm going to close this now as SF is working fine, but it seems one reboot is insufficient for a new install of SF13 to work properly (in my experience on two different machines anyway). Odd, but glad it's working now and thanks for your help. — Paul
