sfk file not working o/s of Sound Forge Pro

wendym wrote on 11/12/2020, 1:08 AM

When I import the wave file into Sound Forge Pro, accompanied by the sfk file, the sound has plenty of dynamic range--=as I set it up to have using Sound Forge Pro. But when I play the wave file in any other program it sounds flat. Do I have to re-record the wave file in Sound Forge to get the better sound? I have Windows 10 64 bit with 64 gig of memory.

Thanks!

An <.sfk> file stores the waveform image of an audio file for Sound Forge Pro and Vegas It has nothing to do with the sound quality or lack therof. It only facilitates fast re-opening in SF and Vegas. It is not needed and does nothing in other applications. It can also be deleted w/o issue. If it is missing, the companion audio file would only take a little longer to 'rebuild' when opened in SF.

If something does not sound good in other apps, state what format and parameters you are saving as.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @wendym.

I just wish .sfk files were stored in their own folder. It would sure help keep my .wav folders tidy.

Sound Forge Pro has an option to hide <.sfk> files when they are created. "Options> Preferences> General". I do not know if AS has that option. You can always delete the <.sfk> files though, it just takes SF a little longer to open the main file next time,

No, I don't see an option to hide .sfk files in AS. Oh well. I know I can delete them harmlessly; I've done that a lot. Thanks anyway.
