SFPro 14 stuttering after recording paused & restarted; any ideas?

Recording at 48/24 bit on SFPro 14, all most recent updates, mainly used for editing. I cannot recall ever needing to pause recording before, so may have been doing this for a while, unbeknownst to me. Recording all fine until paused; on restart, or if set to record from end of existing recording and recording restarted, progress bar stops/stutters, displayed waveform has gaps in it. On playback of the later audio, waveform appears complete but is distorted and crackly. Seems to prompt a "SF has stopped working" message most times as well. I'm on an INTA Audio i7 Pro PC, Win 10 64, up to date, 32GB RAM, Focusrite 6i6 2nd gen: will run Cubase at 64 samples buffer and 70 audio tracks with no issues. Haven't tried recording on SF at 44.1kHz, as having got it to accept that I want to work at 48, SF goes to 44.1 on opening but back to 48 when I press record, and I don't want to undo the settings that got me to that point! Anyone please got any ideas or experience/knowledge of a known bug?

EDIT: I have now tried The Windows Classic Driver and Microsoft Mapper, which did allow me to record and pause without problems, (but with no access my spdif inputs, which are generally the ones I want when recording in SF rather than in my DAW.) I've also tried at 44.1kHz; voila, no stutter! 48kHz also fine at 16 bit BUT NOT AT 24 bit.

Is your interface set to 48kHz and did you choose "File> New" and select 48kHz in SF? There has been previous issues posted regarding Sound Forge with Focusrite interfaces. Otherwise I have not read of the abnormality you describe. Contact Magix Sound Forge Tech Support.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @AgeingMuso.

Thank you rraud. Yes, interface and new file all set on 48kHz. I know Focusrite drivers have the reputation of not always "playing nicely", but just so bizarre that all works (including using the Focusrite drivers on Cubase/Sibelius without any squabbling!), and also all OK in SF until I click pause and resume, which suggests something odd in SF?  I have now tried The Windows Classic Driver and Microsoft Mapper, which did allow me to record and pause without problems, but they then don't allow me to access my spdif inputs on the 6I6 in SF, which are generally the ones I want when recording there rather than in my DAW. I've just now thought of trying at 44.1kHz; voila, no stutter! 48kHz also fine at 16 bit BUT NOT AT 24.... Ah well, back to that brave new world of CD quality audio!

Try experimenting with alternate playback and/or record buffer settings in "Options> Preferences> Audio"

Thank you: increasing buffer on record (from the 64 that Cubase runs happily at, both record/playback) to 128 seems to have allowed me to record, pause and start record again at 48/24.
