I want to have my talent on screen provide commentary on a video being played in the background. Since I don't own a switcher, I would like to attempt this in MEP 2014. Is there a way I can start out with a shot of my talent and smoothly transition into a "Head in the box"?
I am running MEP 2014 on a Windows 10 Sleeper system and I'll provide specs later on if the subject does come up.

I don't have MEP 2014 installed on my computer but if you check under Help for Picture in Picture this should give you at least the starting point.
Essentially you need your "background" video on tracks 1 and 2 (if you have video and audio shown as separate tracks) and your talent on 3 and 4. At the point where you want the talent to become your "Head in a box" you need to use Effects>Size/Position on track 3 to reduce the size of his/her face and place it where you wish. When you do this the background video will become visible "behind" the talent.
