Hi,

I'm guessing from "...same deal as most..." that you mean you've researched similar issues and still found nothing helpful?

Did that include my reply to a similar question about seven months ago, which solved that user's problem?

Here's an edited version of that below for convenience:

--------------------

Perhaps that DLL is corrupt in some way. (That proved to be so for the earlier poster, and is why I've bumped this to the top of my reply here, rather than its previous 'longshot' status!)

On my XP 32-bit PC it's interesting that it seems to change significantly with each MEP version:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/SMPWrapper-1.jpg
Its exact size here is 49.152 bytes (for 'Size' and 'Size on disk'.)

Here's a copy if you want to try substituting it:
http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/SMPWrapper.zip

Unzip it and after renaming your existing file to say SMPWrapper.DLL.bak, move it into that folder and restart MEP. If it doesn't help or makes things worse, restore the original.

However, my first thought  (on reading the post 7 months ago) was that it seemed like a corrupted project. Have you pursued that? After copying the entire original timeline to a new movie, did you also delete the original, save the project with a new name and restart?

And did you delete all the existing .h0 and .hdp files and restart?

If you did all the above with no joy then I'd next be inclined to try methodical successive halving to see if you can isolate any corrupt object. Keep splitting the timeline roughly into two parts, save as Test01.mvp, retry, etc, etc.

An alternative approach to isolation would be to methodically re-open the automatically created backup files YourProject_BAK1.MV_, YourProject_BAK1.MV_, etc. Assuming you have ben using that invaluable feature?

Or, of course, if there is a section that is particularly complex (effects, fades, collages, etc) then home in on that first.

I'm assuming that so far you've been reluctant to re-install, a hassle that's always good to avoid until it becomes a last resort IMO.

As this is a recent development, how about a system restore?

You might also try opening the Run box and entering sfc /scannow to re-register all the crucial Windows files.

Please let us have your feedback.

Hi

As you have not stated what you have tried it makes it more difficult for us to help you.

Have you re-installed the program and selected Repair if offered?

Have you installed any all-in-one codec packs?

John

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply.

If you did not use the Magix Cleanup tool in between uninstalling and reinstalling then the reinstall often makes no difference.

The cleaner tool is available here - on page 2 - you will need to login to get it .

There are also the following which you may need:-

  • Steam log finder - in case you need to refer this to Steam or Magix Tech support

  • Updated Burn routines - do install these.

With software purchased from Steam it may also help to contact their technical support.  There have been several members here who have had issues with Steam software purchases and they have been helped.

You do not need an All-in-One codec pack eg KLite unless absolutely necessary.  Personally I avoid them at all costs - I have had too many issues with them.
