@Mark-McRae

Hi Mark.

Basically your system is both too old and has no usable Intel (preferable), or nvidia GPU.

It does not meet the minimum specification requirements as set out on the website where is specifies you need to meet all of the minimum specifications to expect the performance quoted. That would include a usable inboard Intel GPU and even though you have a good amount of ram it is two generations behind.

You had to turn off your hardware acceleration earlier on the last topic you posted as hardware acceleration is no longer an option for your system and the result even at 1080p can be very glitchy.

Short of a serious PC upgrade there is little you can do about it. Sorry.

Ray.

Thanks @CubeAce for your response but I have exceeded the specs with a Quad-core 3.4 GHz i7 processor, 24 GB RAM and NVIDIA GT 710 2GB RAM. And below is for 8K I should be fine with HD 1080p Or does it have to be built in as you mentioned a PCI adapter wont work?

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR 8K EDITING Processor: Quad-core processor with 2.8 GHz or better RAM: 8 GB Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 4GB VRAM

@Mark-McRae

Hi

. . . . but I have exceeded the specs with a Quad-core 3.4 GHz i7 processor . . .

Actually it does not - having a quad core processor is only one part of the requirements - ie there is a minimum required GPU spec: Graphics card: Onboard, min. resolution 1280 x 1024, 512 MB VRAM and DirectX 11 support (recommended: Intel Graphics HD 520 or better for MPEG2/AVC/HEVC)

Direct X 11 support is required and while you do have an onboard integrated GPU (iGPU) the HD2000 it does not support Direct X 11 which was released a year later then the i7-2600, a 2nd generation processor.

The first Intel processors that supported Direct X 11 were the 4th generation processors with the HD4000 series iGPU.

Hence, as @CubeAce has commented, the processor/GPU do not meet the minimum specifications required. Short of a serious PC upgrade there is little you can do about it.

The same goes for the 8K specs you have quoted - you must also meet the iGPU spec.

@Mark-McRae

Try using Proxies. Open a new movie, then go to the Movie settings and tick Proxies, then bring your files onto the timeline. MEP will create proxy files (takes a while) and you can then edit smoothly. Exports use the actual files.

Search the Help Index for "Proxy".

Thanks @AAProds. This is thinking outside the box! I realize I need a PC upgrade but this might help in the interim.
