Sound Driver slowing pc

Hi, I just purchased Magix Movie Edit Pro 2014 and a new PC to go with it. The PC has good specs, processor is powerful enough. The issue I have is when I playback I get a few seconds delay before the actual playback starts. It also does this in preview mode. I have tried changing the sound driver to 'Direct Sound' and it worked perfectly, when I play from the timeline the video plays instantly like it should. However, on these same settings, when I try playing a preview the audio echoes for abit (like when a CD gets stuck and keeps repeating the same thing) and then I get an error saying that I should switch back to 'Wave Driver' as direct sound is using too much momory.

So I want to ask if there is a way to speed up playback while in Wave Driver mode OR am I able to stop the repeat thing happening in preview playpack when in Direct Sound mode?

Hi

. . . . The PC has good specs, processor is powerful enough . . . .

What is the spec - include the version of Windows and is it 32 or 64 bit.

What is the video format on the timeline?

Is MEP patched up to date - you should be on version 13.0.5.4 ?

Come back with this information and then we can help with the problem.

Hi

 . . . . HP Envy, I7-4770 with 16GB RAM and 2 TB hard drive. . . . .

As you said a good spec - should eat AVCHD  - however - . . . . Seperate graphics card. . . . . .

I suspect your issue with the sound is because the processor is being driven hard during preview playback so the sound suffers and your system is also being slowed down by one or more of the following - making a couple of assumptions.

  1. The external graphics card is causing an issue - depending on type and architecture. From a lot of testing with several CUDA and OpenCL graphics cards I found the integrated HD graphics of the processor to perform  better than external graphics cards - try using the integrated Intel HD graphics instead.

  2. The Antivirus suite that came with the PC is taking up too many resources - assumption 1 - you are still using the preinstalled AV software.

  3. You are not using proxy files - assumption 2 - try turning on the Automatically create proxy files in the projects settings- note the first time you open the project or turn this on it will take some time to generate the proxies but the wait is worth it and will greatly improve the preview playback even on an i7

HTH
