Sound Forge Audio Studio 14 - no MP4 export?

Robert-Kondrat wrote on 1/12/2021, 9:01 AM

Hi,

I understand that this isn't a video editing software, but I occasionally need to load up MP4 video and cut a snippet of it for social media (video and audio). I used to be able to do that before in SF Audio Studio, and I can still load up MP4 file, but I just have noticed that option of "save as" back to MP4 is no longer there. When I try just "save" on the loaded mp4 file I get error "no template was specified". Can anyone tell me if and why it has been removed or do I need to enable it somewhere in the settings?

Thanks.

Just to add its Windows 10 machine.

The Quicktime codec is not included in SF. If it was previously installed, you may have to reinstall it. I think QT 6 or 7 was the recommenced version for SF, but it has been a long time since this was an issue. QT lite or QT Alternative should work as well. The K-lite codec pack will work as well, but that has been know to replace some of the better video codecs already in Vegas Pro, I suppose that same for SF.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @Robert-Kondrat .

Hi Rraud.

Thanks for coming back to me. Quicktime 7 is installed, and I can see save as option as quicktime 7 but the extension is .mov In any case I re-install to the latest version of quicktime, but still cannot see MPEG4 as an option of save as format.

Thanks.

Save as a Sony, Magix or MainConcept AVC/AAC file, both use the MP4 wrapper. Otherwise render a QT file and change the <.mov> extension to <.mp4> afterwards. it is still just an AVC/AAC format.
