Sound Gap recording

Raymond-Wallander wrote on 4/19/2021, 1:59 PM

I am getting a delayed sound through my headphones from what I am speaking into the microphone. I have never had this problem with Audacity nor with the earlier version of Sound Forge used to record 2 other audiobooks. The recording itself is fine, but the delayed replay of my voice is obviously irritating and I would prefer to be able to use the headphones to more accurately hear what I am recording in terms of volume and tonal qualities.

I am using Sound Forge Audio Studio 15, purchased January 28, 2021, to record audiobooks only.

My system consists of a Miktek C7e large diaphragm condenser microphone, connected through a dbx-266xs compressor/gate, PreSonus PreV2 Preamp, Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface into a new Lenovo ThinkPad running Windows 10 on an intel Core 15, 10th Gen.

Try disabling the 'monitor' option in SF. I am not sure about SF-Audio Studio, but in SF-Pro it is in "View> Record options" Otherwise, it is a Scarlett interface issue,

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @Raymond-Wallander,

Bless you my friend. I owe you a bottle of wine. Are you a voice over actor, audiobook narrator or technician?

I am glad disabling monitor worked

I am production sound mixer (movies/TV), live sound FOH mixer and a tech).. at least I was prior to COVID-19 which eliminated most work.

Wow. I got with Sound Forge when recording a couple of books through ACX in 2018 and loved it, but I haven't produced anything since due to our building and settling into a scaled down house. I finished my sound booth in January and am eager to do a few books, but was shocked at the new version so I have been trying to learn some of the changes. Would you consider assisting me on some type of compensated basis? Most of what I am doing for now is more as a hobby than "for profit", but I want it to be the quality required for ACX, etc., as I hope to acquire some semi-profitable jobs as I progress.

PM me a sample of your work via WeTransfer, Google drive, Dropbox or other file sharing site, and I will analyze it and make recommendations.
Otherwise most podcast and audio book publishers have their submission specs online, some of which differ from SF's AXC auto presets.

-You can access my demos via my website http://bassicvoice.com, or by searching ACX for my name or my last book The Wooden Horseshoe, by Leonard Sanders. I am considering using Authors Republic for the short book I am currently recording. Also, please feel free to text me or call me at 719-xxx-xxxx. I would welcome your recommendations. After training with Paul Ruben my hunch was confirmed that I am best suited for non-fiction - even though my first three books were all novels.

I will need a PCM (.wav) or medium to hi-res CBR MP3 file to analyze the file's levels (and such) you submit to publishers.
I am a tech, not a performance judge, so content does not matter.

Sorry about that. I wasn't thinking about those files being in 'polished' format. Here is the sample for ACX in .mp3 format. Let me know if this doesn't supply you with what you need. Otherwise let me know your email and I can send the .wav via wetransfer.com since this medium doesn't allow .wav.
