Speaker output varies depending on MEP track location

Should an audio object play through different speakers depending on which track it's placed in? They do here, in my 5.1 setup (in MEP 2016). That's another cause of the strange results I've been reporting.

Examples later if necessary.

Hi Terry.

Like JohnCB posted to your other thread, I also don't have a surround sound system so I'm speculating: when you imported the sound effect file that was the start of your exploration of surround sound (and assuming you're still working on the same project) I suspect MEP "realised" it was a surround file and automatically switched your mixer into Surround mode. Thus your audio tracks become "designated" as: e.g. track 1, front L and R; track 2, rear L and R, track 3, LFE.

Hi Jeff,

That sounds very plausible, thanks. Will pursue shortly.

Edit: In fact, I did so at once and I'm sure you're right, many thanks - that was really bugging me! My workaround for now is to move it to any track below #5.

Hi Jeff & Terry

Thus your audio tracks become "designated" as: e.g. track 1, front L and R; track 2, rear L and R, track 3, LFE.

Track 1 is Front L&R, Track 2 is Centre & LFE, Track 3 is Rear Ls & Rs (s = Surround).
