Speeding video query - Video playback is jumpy.

Hey guys.

I'm new to this video editing so please forgive me if I sound a bit dippy,

I am using Movie edit pro 2014 for tutorials, vlogs, etc.

I'm having a problem when trying to speed up my videos. I go to effects and up the ratio to make the video faster. Thats all fine, but when I play the video back to see, it is all jumpy. The audio is fast and not jumpy though?

I'm not quite sure if I'm missing something to press as i want it to speed up and flow, not end up all choppy and just show clips of the video?

Hi

Sounds like your computer is struggling to keep up with the amount of processing required to speed up the video on playback in MEP.

If / when you export the video as mpg or mp4 then you should find that it is OK.

Keeping the audio does restrict the maximum speed you can achieve to 2x normal speed.  If you wish to go faster then you have to ungroup the audio from the video and delete the audio part - you can then increase the speed up to 10x.

Ok thanks, I will try this when I get home and let you know if it works when I export it.

I know i tried to export a video the other day to see what it would be like but its estimated time was 2hours, is that my pc too? Or should I be following different exporting instructions when exporting a speeded video?

Hi

. . . . its estimated time was 2hours, is that my pc too? . . . .

That depends on what specification ie processor, RAM, graphics card and hard drive free space you have and the duration of the video on the timelne.
