The Vegas stabilisation feature under Effects tab, Video Effects is the simplest to apply and has no adjustable parameters, however I find it to be a little too aggressive with the Zoom adjustment.

If you have the ProDad Mercalli, Pro and/or RT stabilisers, these are more sophisticated and, for the most part, accepting the default settings works best.

If the results are not satisfactory you will have to adjust the settings to determine what works best for a particular clip - these are under the Effects Edit button shown in the image below - this is very much an experimental method as what works for one clip may not work as well for another..

To get an idea of what the settings do I would suggest you read the Help available by clicking the options shown below once you have applied the effect to a video clip.

Note: Mercalli RT is a real time effect and can affect the smoothness of preview playback
