Sudden choppy preview and time bar not moving.

I've got magix video deluxe (movie edit pro) 2016 on my computer . This has happened before where the program suddenly decided to play the video in chunks and the time bar did not move along. Audio still plays fine. The previous times i've just had to wait for it to fix itself. Restarting my PC did work once but not this time. If anyone knows a solution please do let me know.

processor: intel core i3-7100 CPU 3.90GHz
8 GB of RAM

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro (64 bit)

It suddenly works again after a day but yeah i was wondering if there's a better way to deal withit than just waiting for god to be kind.

I would start with checking the health of your C: drive with the free program CrystalDiskInfo.
