I use Cubase a lot and it has an option field at left screen on each track, where one can enter a name for that track... guitar, vox, etc.

I would like to see the same in VPX. I am forever mixing up what cam is on what track and this would keep me on track (excuse the pun)

Does anyone else see this as good thing ?

Thanks

Hi

. . . . enter a name for that track... guitar, vox, etc. . . .I would like to see the same in VPX . . . .

It is already there - hover the mouse over the track headers and you will see this popup

Note:

  1. the tracks must be large enough vertically to enable renaming and if the track is already occupied the name box is blow the icons in the header

  2. tracks should be renamed after turning on multicam, naming before does not move the name to the correct track.

I would suggest you read the PDF manual available under Help in the program.

Thank you. Strangely enough I was messing around there but could not see the option field come up. I see it now on double click and when it goes white, I type the name in, but it disappears. and won't stay there.

On another note my primary track's audio wave is very low even though the volume level is high. This make it hard to sync the other tracks. How can I get the actual wave higher please?

I do have the PDF even on my tablet to read every now and then, and read it many times but at my age nothing seems to stay in the old brain.

Sorry to be a pest, but I do appreciate the help.

Hi Oz,

After you type in the text, you have hit Enter for the text to stay.

You can also give the tracks different colours.

For multi-cam, a nice feature would probably be having the track title show up with some transparency over top of the image at the upper left of each camera preview in the Source Monitor.

As for the manual and F1, I use search in them more often than not.

Of course not much stays in the old brain; you're carrying around 80 years of information. The memory banks are full. As I learned in University 50 years ago, there are two kinds of knowledge: one, that which we carry around in our heads; and two, where to look it up.

I knew it would be something simple.. Murphy's Law ! I touched everything but that!

Yes as you described that would that would make it easy to see. Still, better what we have than nothing.

So true. The latter seems to get the most work these days for me, for sure, then it's how one describes what they are looking for as well. :-)

I usually print out the manuals so I have a hard copy, but not nearly 500 pages.

All good.

Hi

. . . . you have hit Enter for the text to stay . . . .

On this point you also have to hit the Enter key in many other dialogs to get text or values to stick.

For example with the Size & Position effects, when typing a value you have to press enter, then select the next value box, gone are the good old days when you could tab through the value boxes, entering values, tab to the next one and they would stick.

Seems like I am the junior in this topic, 42 yrs since I left university 😆

The only thing I'd like is for the track titling to be more legible and a better palette of colours to choose from for the tracks themselves. Maybe also like Cubase, to be able to move a whole edited track up or down the track list. I know I can add a track and then pull all the clips up (or down) but it's clumsy and time consuming.

Hi Ray

. . . . to be able to move a whole edited track up or down the track list. I know I can add a track and then pull all the clips up (or down) but it's clumsy and time consuming . . . .

There is an easier way:

  1. click the down pointing arrow on the track you want to move

  2. from the drop down menu that opens select Cut

  3. click the down pointing arrow on the track you want to move it to - this will be moved down in step 4.

  4. from the drop down menu, select Paste

Thanks for the info John but it's till more steps than just grabbing with a mouse and dragging to a new position.

I know this makes me look insanely lazy but that's what developers are for 😉. This is a sort of wish list 😄
