I'm trying to get the best quality out of a .mp4 files. I don't feel like the VBR options work very well cause I will have the Bit Rate at 3000 kbps while the HSS Rate is at 6000 kbps and it doesn't make it look much better, feels like it still does it at 3000kbps.
So I thought maybe one should use Target Quality Mode, however I can't see how one can choose the quality. I don't need it 100% but perhaps at like 90% quality or something.

For web view or android tablet you cannot see difference between 4000 and 6000 kbps the minimum I use is 4000 but 3000 can work. VBR adjust the movie bitrate in function of motion is the quantity of data used to build each picture frame in your movie. But an important factor is the picture quality, normally Magix use 9 as a standard picture quality but you can use up to 15. You can see the difference on a big screen over 50 inches. If you use a target with lines and shot movie you can evaluate your quality
A target like this can be used to evakluate your work quality.

But how would one changed the picture quality from 9 to something else? As I mentioned I had the minimum set to 3k, while the max is set to 6k, but for some scene, they just don't lok good.
The quality i specially not good on the dark scenes.

Each software define conditions for export file as MPEG4 H.264 :
In MAGIX MPEG4 1280 x 720p this is 1700 kbps
In MAGIX MPEG4 1920 x 10800p this is 2555 kbps
In AVID Studio MPEG4 1280 x 720p this is 6000 kbps = HDTV
In AVID Studio MPEG4 1920 x 10800p this is 12000 kbps = HDTV
In YouTube HD is defined as 6000 kbps
Magix use 2 parameters: 1) Picture quality which is 9 as default 2) Bitrate VBR or fix rate.
Also probably check you camera for shoting using the right movie quality normally this is 4 quality configuration.
The picture size is same 1920 x 1080 p but data rate is different, naturally lower rate = less quality.
Also shot using good light condition to avoid grainy in picture particulary in dark scene.
If you start with high quality shoting no reason you must create the best picture.

So is performance that has 1-15, the picture quality? If not, then which, I tried the picture quality but don't see much of a differance.

What is the source video format, resolution and bitrate?
Which mp4 export setting are you selecting and which parameters are you changing in the Advanced settings of the mp4 export dialog?
What is your target viewing device?

The source is also a .mp4, with 1920x1080 and a bit rate of 10000kbps..
I'm selecting the H264 MP4 ones, I been doing a lot of testing from quality based to VBR.. VBR I don't feel reaches the max on the scenes with lots of motion.
So I try to use quality based, but I do not understand what the 3 numbers represent! So if someone can just help explain what each of those 3 numbers do I would appreciate it.
The audiance will be 1920x1080.
The odd thing, is other software like Nero do great quality with very little settings.. But I love Magix's batch features! There just so much detail to it, I still have no idea what the QPS numbers represent,
Hope someone can help, on Nero for example All I enter is Motion-adapative, for frame-rate and sample format.. Then I chooce Video quality or target size, and regardless of which quality comes out better then Magix everytime.The file sizes are also smaller, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!
