The cost of text to speech

buddy-w wrote on 8/10/2025, 4:44 PM

SF $15 for 600,000 characters, 600000/15

= $1.00 for 40,000 characters

= 400 charactes for one cent?

I Downloaded the New testament (plain text) https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/10/pg10.txt

Using grammarly it gave .https://www.grammarly.com/?

Characters without spaces 369016 ,  Characters with spaces 459605

At the current SF rate

What would be the cost to translate the NT text into speech ?

.

Approx 300 pages of text-to-speech are included with the initial purchase of SFP-18. I do not know how many characters are in 300 pages,
That said, 369,016 (or 460,000) is less than 600,000 so the $15 fee should easily cover it, with about 200.000 left over for another project.

Grammerly lets you paste text in and give a character count

To determine the cost of a project it would be

1/number of characters the number of characters in the text to speech transcript.

Not knowing at the time the cost was $per characters, I dabbled with about 20000
characters, the only purpose I bought sf18 for and paid $100.000 so I got 20,000 characters for $100.. hmmm

]7] In my sf18 text to speech window it says enter your text up to 10,000 MAX

[1] Others saying 120,000 characters come with this version

If this is correct

(a) I am owed 110, characters for text

and

(b) They have not sent the companion cd I paid for on (  Posted Date

I posted the question on googles ai and seems to be close the whole bit here with the screens and the ai response

@buddy-w It's likely you cannot enter more than 10 000 characters at once because the AI cannot handle this and need to process your text in chunks.

I wouldn't recommend to convert everything at once, but only some sentences, because it can happen that you'll get glitches and then you need to repeat the conversion anyway.

I did not try to enter 10,000 characters that is the total number of characters I was allowed from the very start, look at your window and it will say xxx amount of characters limit
I only did a few paragraphs at a time
I did not get the said 120,000 character allowance but instead 10,000

@buddy-w You wrote above you dabbled with 20,000 characters. So how much did you already use? 10,000 or 20,000? It's all very cryptic what you write.

Is there a link to show how many characters you used?

In the text to speech window

Enter your rext here (Max 10,000 characters)
Below that next
(i) You have almost reached your character limit, currently left 1403

So if this is an indication of the number of characters I have used then 10,000 -1403

I had used 8,597 characters and only have 1403 left

Tired of seeing those scare tactic commericals about old people falling I was going to create a video showing them that people with the amazon dot can do all of that and much more.
My text is there https://fallenalert.blogspot.com/
I was going to show the links and photos to give them the idea.
If I get tough maybe I will do it with another means

One great use for text to speech, going on youtube to find out how to do things and it is by someone with a hard to understand accent. They take the time to do it, it would be great if they created the instructions in the americian hillbilly voice.. I guess
I never loaded a video in my other visions of soundforge, I tried that but did not do anyu processing .. just goofed off a bit.

Text to speech and speech to text cost money.
Is there a cost for the other functions used in soundforge?

No, only TTS. if you use up the initial allotment

@buddy-w Ok, so the problem is solved? Yes, it reads like you have simply used 8,597 of 10,000 characters for this specific prompt. In the next prompt, you will likely have another 10,000 characters.

buddy-w wrote on 8/14/2025, 1:44 PM

Just started it up again, the old screen with 1403 left vanished. Now saying enter characters (max 10,000) the old prompt to get more is no longer there
I do want to make a couple audio clips using another version I created a trial version last night the voice is ok but sounds a bit jerky and I put a smily face symbol at the end.. n the voice said smiley face, lots of revising and checking before using the paid versions I guess.. hope this works long enough to do a couple clips
