Thanks for this.

But we still need the information requested in the post I linked to! We don't even know your Windows or MEP versions!

Ok. The version is Movie Edit Pro Plus Version 16.0.1.22(UDP3)

I have two plugins installed that came with the offer but don't even know how to use them nor find them, I am very new at this software. Maybe if I will go back to my mail history and try identify them.

I have a i3 6100u laptop with 8GB RAM that runs on Windows 10 Home 10.0.15063

The videos were captured by Bandicam

mak wrote on 6/4/2017, 8:29 AM

Ok the two plugins are HitFilm Superhero Pack and NewBlue Video Essentials 4

emmrecs wrote on 6/4/2017, 8:44 AM

Hi.

Thank you for the additional information.

First, your version of the program has been updated, currently version 16.0.3.66. Please go to Help>Update online and follow the instructions.

I will have to consider later why the mp4 file is not importing correctly - I've never used Bandicam and wonder whether there is something unusual about its file format - but you should find your NewBlue Video Essentials and HitFilm listed on the Effects Tab. I have a different HitFilm plug-in but see the screenshots below:

Hi

From your MediaInfo data:

  • Frame rate mode                          : Variable
  • Frame rate                               : 28.091 FPS
  • Minimum frame rate                       : 0.385 FPS
  • Maximum frame rate                       : 30.030 FPS
  • Original frame rate                      : 30.000 FPS . . . .

Did you get a message pop-up that the video frame rate is different from the projects frame rate?

The issue is the result of the video being variable framerate.

Assuming your project is set to 29.97 or 30 fps then if you do the maths 57m 46s becomes 54m 4s when converted to the project settings fixed frame rate.

AFAICS there is no way to set Bandicam to capture at a fixed frame rate eg 29.97, 30 or 60 fps which leave 2 options:

  1. Run the video through a video converter which will convert the variable frame rate to a constant (fixed) , I use MovAvi (paid for)

    or

  2. Use an alternative screen capture program which will capture at a fixed framerate. I use Screencast-o-Matic (paid for)

I see. Bandicam does have constant frame rate option, but it comes with a caveat, it will "fall back to a variable frame rate if the encoder's performance is not good enough". I will change to CFM and report back.

Guys only main window and the preview window load but nothing else. Is there a way to reset the program without reinstalling it?

emmrecs wrote on 6/4/2017, 1:52 PM

Which program is this? Still MEP, or VPX? You mention "main window and the preview window".

Can you access the "Window" menu item? In MEP, Window>Window Arrangement>Default; in VPX it's Window>Window Arrangement>Reset Window Arrangement (shortcut F9) OR Window Arrangement>Standard should reset the normal view.

Awesome.

I made a 10 min video with constant frame rate and it looks like I was able to import it without losing any precious material. So I will assume John was right. Thanks for clearing that up.
