We need more information - what is your computer specification, what video format do you have on the timeline ie is it Full HD ie 1080p or 1080i, HD 720p or other - please specify?
For the none moving timeline cursor try doing a program reset - File, Settings, Rest program. . . .
The video is the standard MAGIX demo, I don't own the footage myself, but magix does. My laptop is a brand newa acer aspire e1-771G and megix is about the only thing I installed on the computer. I think (And I hope) my computer is not the problem.
This is the same problem that I have reported elsewhere. Are you using the 32bit or 64bit version.
Dear Johnebaker - asking to have the program reset all the time is a sign that the program is not stable. I get this even after resets. I am currently suspecting it is a 32bit issue. I need answers to this problem.
To ahill: you could also try a few different mp4 files, and see if the issue continues, I had problems with gopro files that would not open in any editor or even play on my dvd player, these files were not altered in any way, they were imported from the gopro onto a macbook pro, and when copied ot a susb stick they failed to open or play, yet next day they played on the exact same equipment they had refused to play on, the only thing different was the source computer was shut down and restarted the next day, Perhaps you coudl try some different files and see what happens, also, there is find and repari corrupt or damaged file function on the gopro, run it and see if it finds any problems with the file you are playin.
Both of you could try installing a freshly downloaded version, just to rule out a corrupt file or install that went wrong, and also avoid running other programs at the same time as Magix editor, that may be trying to use the same resources.
I also think think niekstarfish has a 64 bit computer, though only she can let us know if she is running a 32 or 64 bit version of MEP.
