@k9vet

There really is NO NEED TO POST IN CAPITALS! Such use of upper-case is considered as SHOUTING, not something designed to elicit a friendly response!! 😇😇

Normally, as the error message implies, this problem of failing to shut down is caused by the app needing to do some kind of "housekeeping". I have seen it happen from time to time. Usually, if you leave it as is it will close itself once it has finished what it needs to do. In desperation, i.e. if you really need to have the app closed because you wish to shut down the computer, Task Manager is your saviour but it is not recommended to use this route "regularly" since premature force-closing of the app can lead to corruption of certain program files.

Does this problem always occur for you, or was this a one-off?

This is the only time this ever happened; a one-time event. Very weird... Even though the program is "busy", I can start a second version and edit another movie.

Yes, I know about the "shouting". Just trying to emphasize certain things...

Greetings all,

Apologies for ressurecting and old thread but I experienced the refusal to shut down because the "program is busy" this morning, Strangely though I could still use the program to edit anothe file. Really odd.

Looking in Task Manager after about 30 minutes i saw tha MEP had loaded "node.js" - I don;t remember seeing that before, I "end task"ed it but still MEP was busy. I ended the other su bits MEP loaded and still busy so I ended MEP itself, Very odd.

MEPs behaving itself now.

@me_again

Hi Andy

If this happens again try ending the Updater process. On older versions of MEP I would get the occasional hang, mainly on startup, and stopping this enabled MEP to continue.

Do be aware that ending the main MEP process can corrupt the videodeluxe.ini file containing the program start up settings and put the program into a continuous crash/hang loop, - in which case it should be deleted - it is located in

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Videodeluxexx_version

where xx = 2 digit number and version = blank, Plus or Premium

@johnebaker

greetings John, thanks for the reply.

As I said it was behaving itself after that hiccup but started again after about 20 minutes when I tried to close MEP when I went to do something else.

I've just come back to continue with the project after rebooting the computer and it happened again. I wondered if MEP was having difficulty phoning home but discounted it as the inernet connection seemed OK. However I thought I'd try deleting the network adapter and rebooting.

Surprisingly (or maybe not unsurprising with hindsight) all is now well and MEP is phoning home to it;s hearts content. It even re-registered itself apparently when I looke on the Magix site.

I still don't understand why I could post here with a problem if the network was corru[ted in some way.

Still, I suppose that's life in the 21st century - delete and reboot. Now if only life could have a Undo button ,,,,

Thanks again - AndyW
