Hi,

Don't actually put in the cross fade effect, ungroup the audio from the video and use tha handles on the video track to fade the video out and then back in.  It will fade through black but it will leave your audio intact.  It should look something like this.

Thanks George!  The music is seperate that is why I noticed its was screwed.  What if I have like 20+ transition with short scenes?  Is there a command to copy the transition to a selection?  I'm sure there is, just hope I dont screw it up.

Hi

. . . . Is there a command to copy the transition to a selection? . . .

For transitions:

After making the first transition, click the transition button again - you will see these options

For other effects

- right click the clip to which you have applied the effects and select Video effects, Copy video effects - a dialog similar to this will open - select the effects you wish to copy and click Continue

 - select the clip(s0 to which you want to apply the effect to and right click one of the and select Video effects, Paste video effects

NOTE:

1.  The images are from MEP 2014 however MEP 17 is similar

2. You can also save effects combinations for later use - right click the clip with the effects you want to save and select Video effects, Save video effects
