Transitions on title objects

terrypin wrote on 5/16/2018, 4:28 AM

In MEPP 2016 and MEPP 2017 16.0.4.11.9 the right-click A|B context menu for a title/caption object does not include the options to apply the transition (type or duration) to other titles in the track. Is that also true in the latest version of MEPP 2017 please?

Hi Terry.

Your word is my command!!

I started a test project in MEP Premium 17.0.3.177, using just two adjacent title objects and no, the option to apply to all/other titles is not there. For myself, I've never used any transitions on titles, other than fade-in/fade-out, since I can't think of any time when I've needed to place two title objects directly adjacent to each other.

But, another intriguing "feature" (or lack of) in MEP.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for that impressively fast reply!

I do often have adjacent titles, as I like to show time of day as a small caption on most of my holiday videos. And as these are often only 3-4 seconds long they sometimes follow each other. But, like you, I never use a transition other than a fade. However sometimes they are of inconsistent duration and it would be handy to correct them all at a stroke.

Hi Terry,

Use the Trimmers

  • Object Trimmer (Shift+N) to adjust the fades and durations
  • Edit Trimmer (N) to adjust the transition lengths without affect any other titles or clips.

In both cases, you can click on the right arrow button in the Trimmer to go to the next one, adjust, next, adjust, etc. Not as good as globally doing it, but a lot faster and more precise than doing each one manually.

Hi John,

Yes, thanks, that's how I do it with my macros. I have four, operating on a single selected object:
Alt+1 = Add a 0.5 s fade-in
Alt+2 = Add a 0.5 s fade-out
Alt+3 = Add both
Alt+4 = Add a 0.5 s fade-out to previous object and a 0.5 s fade-in to the selected object, simulating the much missed effect that's no longer available.

But still a pain to apply on an entire timeline of many objects.
