Transparent Image and Triple Face

nirvanray wrote on 9/6/2014, 5:04 AM

Hello this is something (perhaps) interesting. Last evening, as I was clicking some pictures with my experiments, I found out something wired but exciting.
With reduced Tv, this effect of picture can be effected. The man was moving and not constant so this effect.

Same for the second picture. The character (Yours truly here) was also impatient and moving so this transparent effect.

But I want to know can the same be achieved while shooting in the videos? Or do I need to rely on editing of merging several shots with chroma?

Can some one please suggest?

Regards.

Hi Anirban

The top image definitely looks like a Chroma Key Green Screen effect.

Is the second image  a still image from a digital camera?

If so then I think the following have combined to produce the effect:

  • the camera shutter speed was set to a slow setting probably something like 1/15 second or more given the depth of field in the image

  • the lighting was probably  fluourescents, or mercury / sodium lamps - these 'flash' with the electricity supply frequency such that you have in effect a triple exposure on your face as you turned towards the camera - this can also be see with the man leaning against the wall

  • The man sat in the stand to the left looks like he looked downwards during the exposure - note the burned out lights of the background is behind the pillars of the stand but  fill the space where the mans head should be.

This would be very difficult to shoot deliberately especially with video for which I think you are going to have to rely on Chroma key effects.

There was a tutorial on Youtube that shows you how to create a similar effect ( a kind of stop motion ) - however I cannot find as yet  - if anyone else knows where it is, it features  a guy on a bike in the first part and a car moving left to right with the camera set at a road junction in the second .

Here is a similar tutorial however it is in German
