Hi i recently got the Movie edit pro premium and i keep have issues with it freezing up every time I try to run some footage I recorded from a game. I am Using OBS studios as the recording software and I have 920 GB available space on my hardware with the small 3 gb footage that I recorded. The footage was captured at 1920x1080 at 60 fps. Please see attached my pc specs. My graphics card is also a GTX 1080

I use OBS studio 27.1.3 and MEP Premium 2022 has zero issues editing videos created with OBS studio.

My resultant OBS videos are 1650 x 1050 and my PC is configured as per my signature.

Both OBS studio and MEP Premium 2022 are able to utilise my GTX960 for hardware encoding and acceleration respectively.

Here are some of my ORB Settings

Resolution: 1650 x 1050 x 30fps (I use 30 but have edited 60fps in MEP without issues) aspect: 16:10
Output: Video Bitrate: 2500Kbps, Audio Bitrate: 160, Recording Format: mp4, Encoder > Hardware (NVENC)
Video: Downscale Filter: Bicubic
Advanced: Renderer: Directx11, Colour Format: NV12, Colour Space: 709

Are your Video drivers up to date? The latest Nvidia Studio drivers for the GTX1080 is 472.47

See:

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

I think the Intel latest graphic drivers for the I7-8700K are here:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/126684/intel-core-i78700k-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-70-ghz/downloads.html

As you can see, your CPU is quite a bit higher specification than mine, yet I am not getting any freezing. I am not even using the studio Nvidia drivers as recommended (I cannot)

So I update my drivers to the lastest one that came out today which was the 497.09 and I am still having the same issues

So i think i got it figured out now. I went to obs and changed some more settings before i was recording on the default file formant then i switched over to MP4 from MKV (OBS default setting)which has made huge improvement i think that is the money maker right there. i will updated later after this weekend when i get time to do my first full edit.

Can you post your Device Options under “Program Settings” (In MEP, press “Y” )

In mine, All 3 options under “Hardware Acceleration” is set to my GTX960

What happens of you head to Nvidia Control Panel - under “Manage 3D settings” and Click “Restore”?

Strictly as a test, what happens if you record at 30 FPS in ORB Studio?

@jjgrober

Hi

For a more in depth discussion on using OBS for screen recording I would suggest you read the very long topic here.

To summarise the topic, it is important that the video produced by OBS is Constant framerate, this avoids a several potential issues such as you are having.
