Trying to create 360 degree movie from video and pic from Insta360 ONE

alexaa wrote on 7/15/2018, 9:00 AM

I can set up a new project so that the width and height are 3840x1940 with a aspect ratio of 2:1 in the "movie settings" of MEP. When I go to "export movie - video as mpg4" I can set the resolution to 3840x1920 but I can not set the ratio to 2:1. I believe the wrong aspect ratio (I use 16:9) is causing "black disks" at the apex and nadir of the resulting movie.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Using MEP version 15.0.0.90 (UDP3) on Windows 10, version 1803 with 16 gig RAM and Intel Core i7 2600K.

Hi

Using your video and jpg files from your other question I cannot replicate the issue with getting black holes in exported 360 video.

We need to see what editing changes have been made in a project that demonstrates the black hole - could you do the following please so we can have a look at the project to see what is different:

Using MEP

  1. create a new project and import the image and video files
  2. make any necessary changes as you have done before
  3. Save the project
  4. Make a backup copy of the project - File, Backup copy, Copy project and media into a folder

Create a zip file of the project backup

  1. Using Windows Explorer - create a zip file of the folder as follows:
  • Right-click on the folder you backed up the files to, click Send to and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • name the ZIP file when completed.
  • Upload the zip file to somewhere like Dropbox or another file sharing platform and post a link to the Zip file.

Thanks

Thanks John. Please download the file "to magix.zip" from http://www.digit-al.net/MAGIX/. Please let me know if this is what you are looking for. Other than trimming the video, there was no adjustments made in MEP.

PS

I used "Spatial Media Metadata Injector.exe" to add the required info for a 360 degree file.

@alexaa

Hi

Thanks for the project files they helped a great deal.

. . . . MEP version 15.0.0.90 . . .

This is Movie Edit Pro 2016 which does not support 360 video - the reason for the black hole is due to applying 360 deg metadata to a normal mp4 video.

Using MEP 2018, after changing the project settings and export settings as shown below there is no black hole.

Project setting as loaded

changed to

Export setting as loaded

changed to

For 360 video support you need to upgrade to MEP 2018 v17.0.3.xxx
