Turn subtitles on and off

ChayHawk wrote on 3/25/2015, 6:30 PM

I am wondering if you can have the ability to turn subtitles on and off using MEP 2015. I found a thread from 2012 that said that feature was not yet supported but since it's been 3 years has that feature been implimented yet? I created a static title throughout the video as the subtitle and want to be able to turn it on and off when the video is made can I do this?

Hi,

As far as I know, no. MEP cannot handle subtitles, only titles and they cannot be turned off and on once exported or burned.

Not even Video Pro X6 does subtitles. Maybe version 7 will, but I doubt it. Version 7 is due out next month.

Hi

John CB is correct MEP does not supports subtitles.

However there is a 'workaround' which you can do:

  1. Copy the entire contents of the timeline

  2. Start a new timeline by clicking the + button to the right of the current timeline tab

  3. Paste the copied contents into the empty timeline

  4. Add or remove the static title

  5. Save the project

  6. When burned to disc, DVD or BD, you will find the menu has two movies in it - one with subtitles the other without - label these with appropriate names in the menu editor.

NOTE: the combined running time of the two timelines must be less then 2 hrs for a standard DVD or BD.
