Michael,

You did not state here which version of MEP that you are using. You should always do this so that we don't waste our time trying to solve a user's problem in a different version. I am using MEP2014Plus.

There are several types of templates, DVD templates, Movie templates, Title templates, etc.

I presume that you mean DVD templates. Normally a DVD has a selection menu when you insert it into a DVD player. From there, you simply select play or, if there are chapters, you select one of the chapters. Magix uses a default template that is very basic which you can modify. In fact, you can modify any of them. The easiest and best modifications are to simply change the image to represent your video, and to give the video a title.

If you want nothing, no menus at all, then when you go to the Burn screen, click on the Edit tab at the top left, go to the right side and uncheck Film menu and Chapter menu under Disc options. Click the Preview button at the upper left and you will see that the screen is now black. Click on the Burn button at the right side of the screen to burn to a disk. I have not tried this to see what the outcome is and I do not recommend it. One should always have a menu on a DVD to start from and to go back to by pressing the buttons on the DVD player remote. You may end up with a black screen on the TV and there will be no indication as to what to do. Or, the video could start running right away. As I said, I haven't tried it.

If you do make a DVD without a menu or startup screen, please come back and tell us exactly the result on your DVD when you ran it in a player.

You say that you looked in the manual. The answer is under the section on Burn and there is a note about this under Templates on page 223. You need to read the manual. It took me less than a minute to find the above answer by searching for templates in the F1 help manual.

Hi John

Thank you very much for your help very  much appreciated.

I did manage to work it out and also read the manuel, the Magix version I have is 2013, When Magix brought out 2014 plus and didn't see any difference from what I have but perhaps I was missing something.

Yes I did mean DVD Templates.

You ask me what happens when you play the DVD, I burned the DVD from the very beginning of the timeline so when I put the Disk in it loads into the player and starts to play straught away which is what I want it to do. It's a legal document and the people who will be playing it won't want to play around with buttons.

Once again thank you for your help

Michael

Hi John

What I did find annoying in Magix was when you go to the burn page the track page is hidden with all the tracks on ie. your film. also when you make any changes in the burn page it asks you if you would like to save the changes and when you have done this the program shuts down.

OT, for 'Breaking Bad' fans: sounds like the DVD that Walt and Skyler made for Hank!
