Unable to Attach Title to Video

Amadon606 wrote on 9/30/2017, 9:31 AM

Hello Everyone,

I downloaded the free trial of Movie Edit Pro, and I am trying to attach title to video and use motion tracking. However, when I watched tutorials on youtube, they use a title tab (which doesn't exist in my trial) and they attach the title object to a layer, and then right click to "attach title to video". I am unable to put title object as a layer like in the tutorials. Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

Assuming the trial version you have downloaded is actually MEP 2018 (which variant, by the way, Basic, Plus or Premium?) the user interface has been considerably changed from earlier versions.

To create a title, using timeline mode, not storyboard mode, you need to place the cursor at the point where you want the title to first appear and then click on the "T" below the playback screen and a "title object" will appear, usually on track 3 and the Title Editor, which is now the first icon under the Effects tab, will open, allowing you to create the actual text of your title, size it, select a font and colour of your choice, apply simple animations, etc., etc.

The above is a very brief introduction to the titling possibilities!

Hi,

And, Titles are now under the Templates tab, then under Title templates.

Once you have the title and have lengthened it to cover the time that it should be on-screen, and positioned where you want it to start - you should be at the first frame of the underlying video, right-click the title and select Attach to picture position in video. Follow the instructions. Create a box around an area that will move and always be on-screen. The program will then key-frame the title so that it follows the action of the boxed area.

Hi

See this quick example of how to attach a title (text) object to a video, you can also do this with a video or image object as well.

Note: the success of the attachment depends on having a clear object in the video to attach to.
