Unexpected black border

Recycler wrote on 7/31/2017, 5:36 AM

I have prepared a couple of captured logos for use in VPX9 such as to have a white background with no border pixels at all. I make up a test project with
Track 1 = full frame white image
Track 2 = first logo, resized smaller than actual
Track 3 = second logo, also resized smaller than actual

What I expect to see in the rendered output is the two logos "floating" (i.e. no borders) on the full-frame white background. What I actually get is shown below, where each logo has a black line top and bottom.

How can this be avoided please? This bordering still occurs if I section (crop) each logo; this, and the fact that I have already resized the logos (thus making any incoming single-pixel border artefact, were there to be any, < 1 pixel width), lead me to think this is happening inside VPX9.

Hi Mike

I have had this issue when trying to create a logo there were 2 issues

a single pixel border top and bottom which was cropped out in PSP , this still gave occasional issues with the black line on resizing in MEP.

Once I made the image x and y dimensions a multiple of 32, e.g. if the image ended up at 1020 * 603, I increased the canvas size to 1024 * 640, the problem went away when imported into MEP.

Hello John

Interesting ..... Thanks for the reminder about that. I re-made my test logos MOD32 sizes, but sadly the results were as previously posted.

I'll email support and see what they say.

Cheers - Mike -

Hi Mike

Have you tried making the logos as transparent background PNG files?

Added: Just tried this with jpg and png in VPX 9 and MEP Premium - jpg gives border top/bottom, PNG no border on export to mp4 in both programs.

Looks like a something common to both is causing the issue with jpg's.,

I have now, and the borders are still there! Good idea though, thanks .... - Mike -
