Uninstalling old versions

I'm doing some house-keeping on my old XP PC, including uninstalling some ancient MEP versions. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has seen VERY long uninstall times? Revo Uninstaller has just finished identifying no fewer than 6284 registry entries it is about to delete for the MEP MX Premium Download version.

Hi Terry

Perhaps it is a case of relativity - IIRC your new PC is significantly faster than the old one.

Hi Terry

Just to add to what John has suggested: in my experience Revo Uninstaller is very thorough and will "take its time" to carefully check for any file/folder/registry entry which might pertain to the program being removed. So, along with the "older hardware" I would not be surprised for each total uninstall to take some time!

Thanks both. It’s true about the relative speeds of those two PCs. But the MEP uninstall times really stand out.

And, sting in the tail, after all that it failed, with a message along the lines of ‘unable to uninstall, possible invalid uninstall program...’ Repeated the whole thing with same result.

There was an error message reported during the uninstall, about being unable to open or access a file called audiovis.dll. Never did resolve that, but having chosen Ignore Revo Uninstaller did proceed to apparent success until that disappointing final conclusion.

I did manage to remove MEP 15, 16 and 17 successfully though.

Another oddity. On several occasions I had a message, well into the process, that to continue I must close a certain innocent text file. The file never seemed to have any connection with MEP, or videos in general.

BTW, I see that programs like MEPP 2014 appear as a dozen or so entries, with various templates etc as well as the ‘main’ program.

Terry.
