Update plugins

bjtap wrote on 6/4/2025, 7:33 AM

I am considering updating to Video Deluxe 2026 the plus version, from Studio 2025. My question involves the added plugins. I already have all of them from previous purchases and I expect my Pixelan and New Blue Total FX will be picked up or can be installed with Video Deluxe 2026. Specifically, based on previous experiences, can I use my Studio 2025 Suite versions of ProDad Mercalli 6, Vitascene 5, and Boris Chrome Key with the new Video Deluxe 2026. If so, how is it done? Can I be so lucky to have them 'seen' and picked up automatically? What about uninstalling the Movie Studio Suite 2025. Will doing that also delete these addons that were included with the Suite 2025? (I suspect so).

Thanks for any thoughts and ideas.

Barry

Hi

I think you are going to have to wait and see what VideoDeluxe 2026 with after it is released.

Any thoughts at this moment in time would be speculation, conjecture and/or assumption.

John,

Thanks for the good advice. Now, my original question still seems valid. Can the extras from a previous version be used in the newly released 2026 version? e.g. Mercalli 6, Vitascene 5 etc.. What experiences have users had in the past regarding this issue?

Hi

Magix have just released the information on VDL 2026, from the specs the existing plug-ins should work.

From experience, the following plugins have transferred over from different versions of MMS and VPX to the 2025 and 16 versions, I would expect these to transfer over without issues:

  • Neat Video
  • most NewBlue effects
  • Prodad Vitascene, Mercalli Pro and RT, Picture Enhancer and CMOS Fixer.

John,

Again I thank you. This will spur me to give it a try.

Do you know if more than one version of the program can coexist and work properly on the same computer?

Generally speaking (at least for recent versions), No, sorry.

Seemingly by default, installation of a later/the latest version will automatically remove an earlier one.

Hi

. . . . Do you know if more than one version of the program can coexist and work properly on the same computer . . . .

Versions prior to Movie Edit Pro 2020 / Movie Studio 18, IIRC, can coexist with the later versions.

There is no way of doing this with versions after the above that would guarantee you would not have issues, such as regression of, and inconsistency of effects, features and compatibilities, eg the Size, Position & Rotate effect underwent a revision a few years ago and has features not present in earlier versions of the software where Size & Position was a separate effect from Rotation which had the reference point was the top left corner of the image/video.
