Greetings,
This morning I finished three projects in MEP 2022 without any problem - in fact I've had no problem at all for weeks and hopefully still don't (touching every bit of wood I can find). Between each project export I closed MEP and then reloaded it.
After that I updated my Garmin SatNav and, true to form, Garmin Express hung; it seems to do that every couple of times I use it, I don't know why. Anyway that's straying from the point, I opened Task Manager to stop it and I saw 3 instances of Updater (Magix) still running which I thought was odd. They all seem to be "quiet" in that they didn't seem to be doing anything.
I stopped them and thought I's boot up MEP again to try and replicate it. After a few minutes I checked in Task Manager thet MEP wasn't apparently active and closed it in the normal manner by using file / exit. Updater was left running and every couple of minutes or so it would use 0.1% cpu for a few seconds and then go quiet.
I opened MEP again and expanded the entry in Task Manager and after a few seconds all was well with no apparent MEP activity BUT the already opened leftover Updater continued to use 0.1% CPU every couple of minutes or so - I assume that it's phoning home because when it uses the 0.1% CPU it coincides with a short network spike. I closed MEP and repeated the test. After closing the third time I had 3 instances of Update running each apparently working independantly of each other in that the CPU was accessed for a few seconds out of sync with eacj other.
MEP works normally and it doesn't seem to harm anything when I stop the updaters after use. MEP is up to date and the Store seems to work OK I've searched the forum and all I can find that mentioned something similar is on the Music Maker site here https://www.magix.info/us/forum/sticky-message-after-update-attempt--1280005/#ca1694086 where Mr Baker mentions the Updater.
This is more curiosity really because as far as I know all is well with system and MEP and it's not causing any known problems except hogging 25mb of memeory for every instance. Any Ideas as to why this is happening and indeed does anyone else have this?
