I'm using Windows 10 and I have Magix Video Pro X 8 on Steam. If I buy Magix Video Pro X 11 will it open the legacy version's (X 8) project files, and without any issues? My main reason to upgrade is for performance and stability enhancements, especially for 4K video editing and exporting, so is it worth the upgrade?

It's best to try it out on your computer, firstly to make sure that it works on your setup.
The current version is VPX 12. It should accept your old projects, but may still need access to some assets that have been deprecated, assuming that you used them. I still have active projects started with VPX6 and they work fine.
I have never understood why people purchase through Steam. This is not a game.

Do check that your computer is well above the minimum specification for VPX 12 for working with 4K video.
My computer spec is in my signature and it works fine with 4K video projects.
If you do not have an Intel processor with UHD 620 or 630 integrated GPU, the performance will take a hit particularly when exporting to MP4 or AVCHD, HEVC can be done on a suitable Nvidia or AMD GPU.

I have an i9 CPU, 32 GB RAM and an RTX 2080 GPU. Windows 10 and HEVC installed from Microsoft Store.
I used to work with VPX 8 and have hard time on 4K videos. In order to get some idea about VPX 11, I downloaded and tested VPX 12 trial from this official site. The 4K video editing was flawless on it. It worked almost with zero lag, even between fade transitions while editing.
Than I though VPX 11 would be similar to VPX 12 since they are just one version different. And purchased VPX 11. When I tested it I was disappointed. VPX 11 works equally as laggy as VPX 8 on 4K. The price of VPX 11 (Around $25 on Humble Bundle) was the highest for my budget. Now just the upgrade from VPX 11 to VPX 12 has a huge price tag of $144. There's no way I can pay that much, and the $25 I paid for VPX 11 has been wasted for not much of a difference.
I am disappointed. Maybe there is some tweaking options in the software settings? I check out a little but couldn't find anything to make it work better.

I just set them as in the screenshots and with the graphics settings, maybe the preview is slightly faster than before now, but still will long pauses/freezes, especially while the fade transitions. In VPX 12 that didn't happen.
