Upgrade / Update?

mojoaudioguru wrote on 8/31/2021, 8:42 PM

I updated in July of this year, by paying the $60.00 fee, in order to continue receiving updates of MEP+. (I currently own 2021) In the past, that would allow me to get the following year's version. (Now, 2022) However, I am being asked to once again pay a fee for the 2022 version, when I already paid in July. Why is that?! They say it's a new feature or option. But I paid for the continuing updates, and as of yet, have not received one update. Also, I recently went thru a new online provider that took a few days to be installed. Yet, when I checked for any new versions, patches, or updates, while off line, the pop up for "no updates are available," would still pop up, despite my computer not being online. So, how could it check if anything was available, if it couldn't go online to find anything? All my other software would tell me that I am not online, and to try back later. Did that last update disable my software from being able to update, so that I could be made to pay again, just to get the 2022 version? What's going on? Furthermore, if I paid for the update in July, shouldn't I automatically get MEP 2022+, like I had with previous versions? What changed? If I have to pay once again, shouldn't I be credited the amount paid in July? Does anyone have any answers, or are any of you experiencing the same thing? What is going on?

Hi,

Are you referring to adverts telling you to upgrade for X$? Ignore them.

When you open MEP2021 Plus, you should see the update screen in another window. You should be able to update/upgrade to the new version for free. Did you try this? Does this ask you to pay?

Just remember, MEP2021 will be replaced.

Every time I open MEP 2021+, I get a pair of pop ups, telling me: "IT'S HERE - NEW VERSION OF MEP2022 PLUS!" Then proceeds to tell me how much it will cost me to pay for the 'new' subscription service. $59.99 U.S. On top of that first one, there is another pop up that states: "The New 2022 Version is here. Available starting now, with your active update service:..." then, it goes on to list the new features. At the bottom of that pop up, there are two choices to choose from. "CANCEL" and "EXTEND NOW." However, when I tick on extend now, it opens up my browser to a purchase page, for said new version. Which now offers this same new version for a mere $99.99. U.S. Both pop ups are telling me that I have to pay, either or, listed prices above, in order for me to update MEP 2021+ to MEP 2022+. Which should not be, considering that I paid for the update service, in early July. Just FYI, I know that MEP 2021+ plus will be replaced. I've literally been buying every single version, since 1999. So, I am well aware of the processes. Am I the only one being rooked for a second update fee? Or has anyone one else gone through this? BTW, I did check on my Magix account online, and it clearly states that I paid for the upgrade, and that it's valid until July 6th, 2022. Yet, when I pick 'extend now,' I am rerouted to a purchase page. Can someone explain what's going on, here?

I'm in roughly the same boat, with my update service running until April next year. But I get an "Update Now" button (as well as the other screen about paying for an upgrade):

Given the system says your update service runs until July next, I suggest you contact Magix Sales to get them to "fix" that screen and allow you to update to MEP 2022 for free, as you would be entitled to do.

I don't know the Sales email address. Others will chime in with it.

Ignore any offers if you are within your update period. Just close it down.

Then go to Help within Movie Edit Pro and click on Update on line.

The download should be available from there.

@CubeAce Probably not. @mojoaudioguru isn't getting the update panel pop up on startup, so I doubt that Update online will show an available update.

Thank you all gentlemen, for your assistance. Every time I go to HELP, and click on 'update,' I get 'there are no updates available.' However, what I should be getting on the opening of MEP 2021+, is the same set of pop ups that AAPRODS gets, (Pictured), enabling me to just click 'update now.' But, I don't. I get the screen that says 'Extend Now,' instead. Which leads to a purchase page on my browser. Does anyone have an email to contact Magix so that I can get this resolved. Or, any other way to contact them for a resolution to this issue?

CubeAce wrote on 9/1/2021, 3:09 PM

@mojoaudioguru

It is possible but not necessarily true that the rollout of the program is being done maybe a few countries at a time. Windows does this with their updates to conserve bandwidth on their servers. Where are you based?

If you need help with this though try sales@magix.net.

CubeAce, I'm in the USA. In the past, I was one of the first persons to get the new version updates, because of my longevity with the program. (Since 1999) I was even responsible for finding a glitch or two, in previous versions, that I reported on, and a patch was subsequently issued for said fixes. Since CUDA was dropped, things changed. I was no longer in high regard. Now, I'm just a customer, like everyone else. I noticed that the serial number for MEP 2021+ on my Magix account, is not the same as the one on my actual version of MEP 2021+, and I'm wondering why? Could that be the issue? I just sent Magix a support question, questioning that very same contradiction. Not sure why the July update payment that I made, doesn't reflect the current serial number on my software, when it should. In any case, I just hope this issue is remedied, and I'm not rooked for another $60.00 because of something Magix screwed up during the last update payment.

Hi.

I have no idea about your account issues but I would be annoyed if it were me in your shoes. The one thing I noticed about the download was the automatic change of product activation key with a warning to keep a copy of it. I thought it should show up in my Magix account but haven't checked yet. My last paid update does show on my account along with expiry date. At least it did when I last looked.

I've learned over the years, to not to let Magix's practices annoy me. They've let me down so often, that I actually expect it. I have since heard from their tech support. With, as always, an ambiguous email and cryptic response. However, somewhere in that response, they managed to send me the actual download link to the new 2022 version, and I am downloading it, as I type this reply. No answers as to why I went thru this, or why I had to tell them that I deserve to have the 2022 version. I think it's just that they wanted to rook me into paying for it, a second time. They should know me very well by now, after 20+ years. Although I'm sure those that do remember me, are long gone and gone on to more reputable employers. I know I'll be going thru this crap again, come July of 2022. In my opinion, it's Magix's only consistency. To continue to annoy me, every year. In any case, I thank you all for your valued assistance. (Hater's chiming in, in 3...2...1...go!) 😏
