Upgraded to 2022 Premium, now can't export videos

Dave-Eric wrote on 10/7/2021, 1:37 AM

I upgraded to Movie Edit Pro 2022 Premium, and everything works well, except when I export to MPEG4 or AVI, it exports, then 30 seconds to completing the export, the program ends and closes. It does generate a MPEG4 file of about the right size, but I can't play it, VLC or any other player can't open it or play it.

My 2019 Premium had no problems exporting, why is it now a problem with 2022?

I am on a Windows 10 PC with latest updates. My Movie Edit Pro is version 21.0.1.85 (I can't update to version 21.0.1.87 because when I do it go in a never ending update).

Hi Dave.

In MEP 2022 open File / Settings / Program / Device options and in the drop-down box for Export, change the setting the Microsoft WARP.

My 2019 Premium had no problems exporting, why is it now a problem with 2022?

Because the minimum specs for Movie Edit Pro changes with each upgrade and one or more of your components may no longer be able to cope with the new internal structure of the program.

This may or may not be the case in this instance. Difficult to tell without you specifying all your computer components in detail.

Try disabling any antivirus program while updating the program and the update should load although that may not cure your current problem.

Ray.

Thank you Ray. I have the Device option set to my Graphics card. I changed them all to MS WARP, but it is now a very long compile, but hopefully it works.

Is there a reason it won't work with my graphics card?

@Dave-Eric

Hi Dave.

In theory the nvidia card is capable. In practice I'm not sure because you seem to be using a wide screen monitor that doesn't conform to standard video ratios. You will note there are no export options within the program that matches that. I really don't know if that is throwing a spanner in the works or not.

You also have the first Intel chip with a K on the end I have seen without a GPU. Again the chip is OK but no GPU which may have helped a bit.

I'm going to copy in John Baker to this reply to see if I can get his attention. He is the engineer out of the two of us and may understand more. My gut says it should work but have no idea how to go about getting it set up.

It does look like the file header isn't being generated. I think that is what happens in the last few seconds.

I assume the 1070 was showing up in the project settings?

Ray.

@Dave-Eric, @CubeAce

Hi Dave, Ray

The GTX 1070 certainly meets the system requirements and should be fine exporting to MP4.

As both MP4 and AVI are affected, this would rule out the GPU - AVI is not an accelerated export format - what is on the timeline in the region about 20 - 40 seconds from the end eg image/video/title and what effects, transitions, etc are applied.

Which MP4 export preset was selected and did you change any of the parameters?

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse the exported clip that won't play and post the results in a comment - see this short tutorial for how to set up and analyse a video clip, this may give us a clue as to what is going on.

The monitor resolution of 2560 x 1440 (Quad HD) does not affect exports.

Hi John.

Thanks for the monitor resolution info. I wasn't sure if the Windows display settings would have an effect of not.
