uploading to vimeo and utube

Hi

I have asked this question before but tried what has been suggested but it's not working.

I have finished my video Selected the Blue marker at the start and end points. I am using 8 tracks and everyone has objects on them. I have deleted all objects to the right of my video and before it starts, I have also deleted any spaces at the end and before it starts. I have renderd my video played it back and it lasts 4.15 sec.

I go into export movie MPEG4 the export screen comes up I know the settings are right, I have ued the same settings a few times before, I click on OK and a screen comes up saying ' sections were found in the movie which do not contain image or move material'  there are three options ignore, jump to empty section, cancel I choose ignore. My video starts to export to MPEG. Now when I play the Video back the beginning takes about 10 seconds to start but the renderd start point should be exactly on the first frame no waiting. the video does not end on the renderd end point but keeps playing with nothing showing on the screen and this makes my video last for 5.25 sec. but it should be 4.15 sec. it uploads to Vimeo and Utube but like I say it's the wrong lenth.

Any more suggestions would really be appreciated, or as anyone had the same problem..

Regards

Michael

And what do you find if you don't ignore the warning message and instead jump to examine the reported empty section?

Hi Terry

If I choose 'jump to the empty section' the curser jumps to the end of the renderd green line which is the end point of my video.

In addition to what Terry has suggested I note you say in your post that you have deleted objects "before it starts".  Have you then moved the remaining objects/tracks to the very beginning of the Timeline?  That should certainly remove the 10 second gap at the beginning of the rendered file.

I have my suspicions, based on my recent experience with VPX5, that if you mark beginning and ending points for an exported range and the beginning of the range is NOT the actual beginning of the timeline, MEP/VPX may "disregard" what your marked points mean!  Please note: I have not been able to conclusively prove this so do not take this as a "proven bug".  However, your experience with the "empty section" being at the end of the rendered file makes me wonder whether the "bug" also affects any "post-range" section.

What I would do is, 1. Make absolutely sure there is no object of any kind on any track before the start of the wanted section nor after the end; 2. Save this version of the project under a "new" name; 3. Close the project and possibly also MEP; 4. Re-open MEP and the project (under its new name), render and check the resulting file.  It MAY now be correct!
