Use of .H0 and Magix Sounds .HDP Files with Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus 2013

Hi,

When using the Screen Capture tool in Movie Edit Pro Plus 2013 it creates 2 files at first; a large .mxv file that is the content captured and a small .H0 file which I have no actual idea what it does.  Then after saving the Screen Capture content as a say wmv or mpeg file or just in a project file, an additional small file with a large blue M that is a Magix Sound .HDP file gets created in the folder where the Screen Captures had been saved to or sometimes, this large blue M icon Magix Sound .HDP file will be created in My Videos folder not the Screen Capture folder?  Basically I have a lot of .H0 and .HDP files and want to get ride of them if I can and just have the .mxv files.

This "Magix Sounds .HDP" file seems not to be needed by me, since I don't do audio editing at all and it says via the Properties option that it opens with Magix Music Editor.  Is there a way to stop it from always making this file when a project gets saved or screen capture is made into standard wmv mpegs without it creating the M file, also why does it sometimes save to the screen cap folder and other times to my video folder along with the wmv or mpegs when I save the screen capture content as a wmv or mpeg to my video folder that blue M file is there sometimes when often the original 2 capture files ".mxv and .H0 files" are in the Screen Capture folder?

Part 2:

Use of .H0 and Magix Sounds .HDP Files

I saw in another post here via a search on this topic (not sure if it applies to Movie Edit Pro Plus 2013 though) that these files vary (used across multiple Magix programs) and can be deleted but also everytime the associated .mxv file (the actual screen capture file) is used they are simply recreated if deleted.  I am confused by the answer somewhat.

The answer I saw said the .HDP file is also known as an (IIRC) file.  Another site called it a Magix Musstu file. No idea what that means and never see it in my use as an IIRC, the answer went on to say that the .HDP is the preview images shown on the timeline.  I wonder if that is what my .HDP files are for because they all say (Magix Sounds .HDP) files, so if it is a "sound" file it wouldn't be a timeline image file.  Additionally, when checking the properties of the file it says opens with Magix Music Editor and trying that the Music Editor 3 gave a 101 error so it isn't sound but seems is timeline image then and no matter I can delete them anyway since they get recreated?

Summary:

1.) Can I delete all the blue M Magix Sound .HDP files with no issues to various project files and associated .mxv screen capture content use in the future.  Is it sound or timeline images?  Why does it say opens with Music Editor? (I know I can change the program it opens with but is it a audio file but Music Editor 3 gives a 101 error) If they always get recreated after being deleted when the .mxv file is used will the timeline image always come back?  Is there a way (option) to not create the M file at all if it is a sound file?  I couldn't find the option

2.) I tested deleting the M .HDP file and seems the timeline image does come back, I am confused what this file is and really does.

3.) Will the .HO file recreate itself if deleted?

Seems like a lot, and I have over 75GBs of info from these 3 types of files in my screen captures folder, so if I can safley delete all .HDP and or .H0 files it would really help.

4.) Other side question: Is there a way to easily see what files are in a project?  See them on timeline I guess is 1 way and scroll over the timeline bar image for file name, but is there a short cut or option that displays project files and locations of the content in a project in some other way?  Trying to get educated and organized.  Thanks.

Hi

The HDP and H0 files contain the small images you see on the timeline and the audio waveform curve when you display it.  If you do not have the option to create audio waveform set in MEP (any version) then the H0 files should not be created.

The H0 file is used in Music Editor to display the audio waveform - that is why it is associated with the software.

The video and audio are in the mxv files.  As you have found they can be deleted, however they are recreated when you next use a mxv file.

To see the files used in a MEP project - with the project open select File, Settings, Movie, Movie information tab you will get a complete list of all files in the project.

Thanks for the answer.

The "Movie Information" in "settings" was exact what I was looking for.

I do have an additional follow-up question now though that I hope can stop these .HO files from being created.

A long time ago I tried a trail version of some " Magix Music Maker/Editor" but do not have it installed now.  It was a serious editing program.  Now, I do have "Music Edit 3" which opens with those blue M files and a 101 error and I can't find the option to turn off "CREATE AUDIO WAVEFORM."

I also have "Magix Sound/Video Cleaning Lab" download version which could be the cause of these .HO files being created when using the screen capture tool or saving projects, but both audio programs have virtually the same layouts and not a "settings' options under "File" as Movie Edit Pro does.

So it is either an older music editor not installed now (wierd?) or Music Edit 3, or Sound/Video Cleaning Lab.  If you can please tell where the option to "not create audio waveform" I would much appreciate not having these .HO files.

Hi

AFAIK you cannot turn off the creation of the H0 files in Music Edit 3  or Video Cleaning lab - they are needed to display the waveform on the timeline.

In MEP you can turn of creation of the waveforms on import - it is in the program settings.
