On the input tab, click my media->projects

Find your project and right click it,

Then cooose Diaply Project Content.

You can drag and drop what you want to the timeline.

mluckeypuoto2,

It can be done but I don't know of any way quite as straight forward as copy / paste as you can't simply have two projects 'open' at the same time to use the standard Windows facility. You can however copy and paste between different 'movies' within a single project.

  • Open your first project
  • Open the second and choose 'Add new project' rather than closing the first one.

You will now have one project with two* movies. Choose between them from the 'Windows' top menu or from the little film reel icon above the time line and do your copy / paste as you want.

  • Clean up by deleting the second movie from the current project using 'File' >> 'Manage movies' menu.

*Things can get a bit complicated if you have more than one movie already in either of your projects or duplicate names.

Regards,

Carl (wondering if John B has beat me to the post once again? :-)

Added: JohnnyO got in first with a method new to me. Thanks much but It seems limited to the unedited content. I don't think you can use it to import just the sections that are being used on the timeline of the second project or perhaps more usefully including any effects, titles or transitions.

Thank you cpc000cpc

I could have never figured the one out on my own.

Thank you!

Yes... there is a way to do it. The gentleman above quite correctly said 'Open the second project and choose 'Add new project'

The issue is if your second project is HUGE and then you are faced with cleaning up and editing ect....

So.... BEFORE... you 'add the second project', close everything down. Open up the 'second project', the one you want to take the clips from. Then - edit out everything except the clips you want. Move them to the front of the movie and save it under a different title. Then, open up your first project, (the one you want to insert the clips to).

Then, as above, go to 'file' - and add the newly named project. Now it will be a breeze to edit in place.
