Vegas Pro 13, How to change default audio recording format

Does anyone know how tochange the audio recrding format in Vegas pro? Currently, everything I record is saved as a .wav file. These take up a lot of space. I'd prefer mp3 if possible.

Windows 10, 64 bit / Vegas Pro 13

use the MP3 template in the render section, if you're making for a DVD use the Ac3 format it's a lot smaller .
