My playback for mpeg is jittery, not sure if its a graphics card issue or not, suggestions welcomed?

Text: how do you insert a text and change the background to a dif color other than black and white?

I tried to insert one the of the templates (intro) but it will only insert if a video is present and overlays on to it, I just want the animation provided to use as a intro into the movie not overlay on it, any suggestions.

thanks erik

ps I have movie edit pro 17 hd

If you are referring the the playback of the MPEG video while in the Movie Edit Pro being "jittery", then that should be okay. Movie Edit Pro is not a playback software, it is reading the pixels for every frame. That is a lot to ask when you have HD video, so playback gets skimpy simply because the program is demanding more from the graphics card and system resources to calculate all that data in real time.

From my years with Movie Edit Pro, all my final results have been flawless, even when I was getting "jittery" playback from within the program. More resources, and a stronger graphics card can help smooth it out, but just knowing that it is probably only in the playback within the project that causes this should make it somewhat justifiable.

As for Text on a different color background...

I do things a little differently... I am not sure if Magix has an official answer on the background color changing but what I so is make a bitmap of the color background I want in Windows Paint. I am not sure the size will matter since it is all one color, but since the majority of my video is 1360x768, I use that as a template. I use it this way simply because sometimes I need a specific color to match something within the video, I found this is the easiest way.

Once I have the bitmap (BMP) I then insert it into the project and add my text to it.

baynard,

Sorry I don't know what causes your jittery playback. Is this while previewing during editing (perhaps just lack of couputer power) or even after your have exported a final film?

For color backgrounds to titles simply put any plain color still image on a track above (lower number) the title.

There are several maybe already available under 'Effects' >> 'Design elements' >> 'Color swatches'. If you've got the download version of MEP17+ they have to be installed as a free download fron the MEP 'Help' menu. Special colors you regularly use can be added to the appropriate '.../BackgroundEffects/ColorFields' folder -- location dependent on your system (usually in 'Application Data' under WinXP or 'ProgramData' under Win7). Any image will do, but the download set includes a number of standard test cards that can be useful.

Carl
