Video and audio from one object not behaving on dragging into MEP

FF22 wrote on 4/19/2020, 11:28 AM

As I hope you can see, I dragged one clip/object from my Osmo Action camera folder into MEP.

Then I ungrouped it. It is now a video object of one length and its corresponding audio component. BUT the audio is noticeably shorter then the video. Also when I play that portion of the project, there is silence for a while, then the audio kicks in. Obviously it ends when the audio track section is too short. This video plays find in VLC. I have learned about variable frame rate. Is there some equivalent shortening the audio component when split in MEP? There are no other objects or thingies on any of the other tracks. They are clean.

Hi,

For the problem with length, I'll leave that to others.

As for no sound at the beginning, that's easy. You have a transition from a photo to a video. By default, there is also a transition with the audio. Since you have a photo with no audio, the transition is simply a fade in. Look at your image; you can see the fade in on the audio part. To remove the fade, hold down alt and drag the fade handle to the left.

I think that I just eliminated the fade-in and still no sound. I'm experimenting to try cleaning up this mess. I also found the "shortened audio" issue. I had converted all of the Osmo file using Movavi and for some reason, the audio portion was clipped. But when importing the original clip, the audio is full length but the the SILENCE at the beginning is still there but again plays fine in VLC.

Were you using an audio adapter with the Osmo Action? I have an Osmo Pocket and sometimes when switched on and If I try to record straight away it takes a couple of seconds further for the audio adapter to pass signals through the to Pocket. Have you right clicked the audio object and selected 'create waveform display' to see if there is any audio showing at the beginning of the clip?

Just the straight Osmo Action, no adapter. I've been playing with a sample along, outside of the video and finally tweaked it. I separated an mp3 file from the clip and then used that. A bit convoluted but it appears to have worked. The other Osmo clips seem okay.

(fingers crossed - each time I replay or tweaked a Title or object length I notice something else out of wack. I have copied from the original project into three separate movies (4 total) and editing each still unwieldy chuck separately. Hope when that is accomplished I can weave them back together)

In the meantime, to remain sane, I walk away from the project and I've been sewing up a mask for walking and bike riding - yeah, sane - HA HA!

I don't know about the Action but the Pocket still records audio when shooting slo-mo and saves a separate file. I find that really useful. Slowing down the audio with it sounds great. I was thinking about an action for bad weather days. The pocket is far from water resistant.

That's very civic minded of you.... I've just not gone out but I'm fine, fine I tell YOU! 😆😆

I've not used the Action as much as I could. On the China trip I was occasionally juggling the three cameras. Trying to fit the occasion. I did one timelapse but did not incorporate it into the project. Maybe I should reconsider.

One guy posted video where he attached a self-stick and had the action in a moving creek as he walked along. It was actually quote interesting.
