Video Deluxe 2026 Plus: Import of some videos trim the last 2 minutes

DonL wrote on 7/17/2025, 6:59 AM

I just purchased the product after experimenting with the trial version. I did not see this problem in the trial. When I import some MP4 videos (not all), the last 2 minutes of the video are trimmed. So instead of a video that is 45:30 in length, it is 43:30 in length. It doesn't happen with all videos, but so far it's happened with 2 in the last day. I've tried multiple ways to find the problem, but nothing has worked. I need to find a solution or I will have to request a refund

@DonL

Hi

This is a common issue with video files that are Variable Frame Rate (VFR), VDL 2026, like many other video editors does not always handle VFR video correctly especially when the Minimum and Maximum frame rate range is relatively high.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

In the Video section of the analysis, if you see this line:

Frame rate mode: variable

Then try converting the video file(s) to Constant Frame Rate using a video converter such as Handbrake or AviDemux

Tutorials for both of these converters are here:

Handbrake: https://www.aaproductions.net/handbrake.htm#xl_HeadingAnchor:583cMMT

AviDemux: https://www.aaproductions.net/avidemux.htm#xl_HeadingAnchor:58ruYVq

Import the converted files to a new project.

If the above does not fix the issue then post the MediaInfo analysis in a comment.

To avoid further issues with VFR video, depending on the recording device you may be able to set the frame rate mode to Constant

Als een kwestie onoplosbaar lijkt, komt dat niet omdat je de oplossing niet ziet, maar omdat je het probleem niet ziet.

If an issue seems unsolvable, it is not because you do not see the solution, but because you do not see the problem.

@johnebaker - Thanks John! That was the problem. Once I converted the 2 videos to use of a constant frame rate, VDL 2026 correctly imported the entire video for editing.
