Video missing after burning

bobthevideoman wrote on 7/24/2021, 4:55 PM

After updating to Video Pro X13 I had many problems mainly due to my GPU (Nvidia GeForce GTX760) so I uninstalled it

I then re-installed version X12 and restarted a previous X12 project, this looks perfect on the program but when I burn to DVD there are big chunks of video missing, the audio plays correctly BUT this is from a separate audio file so not attached to the clip.

I have narrowed down the missing video to one 4K clip. On the program this clip plays fine, I can edit it, it has thumbnails and is listed in the project folder. The original clip is still in its original place on my hard drive (I use proxy files)

Please also note that within the program I right click on this clip and click "Object Properties" the program immediately freezes and has to be closed with task manager, I wondered if in the ensuing hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling Video Pro X the clip has lost it's association the the original file ?

Grateful for any suggestions

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob.

Have you tried going to the project folder and loading one of the last BAK files?

Work your way from the last date recorded backwards until you get to one that works.

Ray.

Thanks Ray.

Just looked into that but, I'm afraid the only BAK file I have is at the start of the project. The idea though would have worked I think, as when I click on "Object Properties" properties comes up and no freeze.

I think I had best delete the offending clips and import the clips again, it will be less work than working from the BAK file.

Strange that the clip is on the timeline but wont burn to DVD.

Appreciate your help

Bob

@bobthevideoman

Hi

Try deleting the proxy file and the .HDP and .H0 files for the video clip that is causing the issue. then load the project these proxy and supplementary files will be recreated.

Hi John

Thanks, good plan and I think I did it correctly but no change I'm afraid. For some reason after the program had finished creating proxy files the video was black on the timeline (wasn't before) and I still could not click "Object properties" without a program freeze.

I have now fixed things by deleting the clips completely, copying and renaming the original clip and importing that in place of the old clip. This has worked so far, but still to burn DVD....

Thanks again for you help

Cheers

Bob
