Hi Folks, I have just installed the lates 2022 update and I am no longer able to fully import mp4 video, the container is there but the video data is not. The video plays just fine in Windows player.
Anybody else had this issue.
I'm using an I7 Lenovo with Gforce graphics card.

Can you give me a current screen grab of this section of your program settings please?
It may have different settings and that could be OK but try changing them. There seem to be a lot of combinations but few of them will work on any given machine it seems depending on the parts used within the build.
Whether a file plays in a video player has no bearing on how a file will behave in a video editing program.

As mad as this might sound and going against the recommended minimum specs page on the website I'm going to guess your Geforce 940MX graphics card is not fully compatible with the infusion engine three.
One way to maybe test this theory out is to select another option in the other three drop down menus.
Do that before loading any projects though or it will not work and close and open the program before loading a project to the settings stick.
You may only have CPU or Microsoft WARP to choose from. Try both starting with Microsoft WARP. Response of the program may be slow but if it works at all then the problem is now the graphics card.

You are correct - the 940 MX is a low end older GPU (Maxwell) which is well below the spec of a GTX 1050 (Pascal) the minimum recommended.

Is the source video you are trying to import HEVC encoded if so the 940MX does not support HEVC decoding or encoding.
What is the specification of your Lenovo laptop - see this topic for details of what is required and please quote the processoer and GPU/chipset make and model in full.
A MediaInfo analysis of one of the clips not showing the video would help, see this tutorial on how to setup and analyse a video clip with mediaInfo.
If the Lenovo is an AMD processor based machine then change the Import and Processing device options to Microsoft Warp.
If your Lenovo has an Intel processer with integrated graphics open the Lenovo Vantage program and turn on Hybrid mode as shown below
Then in MEP 2022 set the 3 device options to the Intel graphics GPU

Thank you for you assistance. Yep, I changed the import device to the native PC Intel, that sorted it. Yep, need a newer PC, this little i7 with Nvidia is starting to show it's age, which is a shame because it WAS a multimedia spec...5 years ago!

With the pace of technology change, your PC is an old pensioner 🙂, current lifespan of a PC is around 2 - 3 years and then it is out of date. Before I retired, we had a 3 year cycle of replacement to keep up with the minimum requirements set down each year by the government advisors.

Which in turn makes a mockery of right to repair or recycling. I think AMD at least are on the correct track of trying to make a CPU that can be upgraded without always needing a new socket. Things could be worked better. That was a nice card in its day and should in my humble opinion still be a worth while card to have. It's not like the new cards consume less current.
